What’s with ’13 Reasons Why’ and it became the most addictive show on Netflix at the moment?
The show deals with mental health issues and the emotional and powerful story of Hannah Baker.
She is a teenage girl who takes her own life and leaves behind 13 recorded cassettes for the people who contributed to her death.
Here’s what you need to know about the show everyone’s talking about:
1. Selena Gomez was originally going to star in it.
Selena Gomez was initially planned to cast in the lead role as Hannah Baker, but instead, she decided to work behind the scenes and Katherine Langford then landed the part.
2. It’s based on a book.
In 2007, Jay Asher’s novel ’13 Reasons Why’ was published. After releasing in 24 countries, it suddenly climbs to the top on the New York Times best–seller list in July 2011.
3. The series will be getting very dark.
Since the novel is about young adults who experience real-life traumatic events, the movie itself shows a lot of tough subject matters like abuse, mental health and suicide.
4. It’s a passion project for Selena Gomez
The singer and actress is working behind-the-scenes on this project by acting as executive producer.
5. There are 13 episodes: 1 for each reason
Two weeks after Hannah Baker commits suicide, Clay receives a mysterious package which contains cassette tapes with Hannah’s recorded why she killed herself.
